Our children’s taste buds have been hijacked by the food industry, without their consent. In a society that values profit over the health of our most vulnerable population, it’s my mission to take back the family dinner.

I’m Andrea Bemis and I am so happy you stopped by “Let Them Eat Dirt!” I am a mother, wife, farmer and real food advocate. Like so many of us, motherhood catapulted me onto a new path and I began to dive deep into the world of childhood nutrition, disease, picky eating and just what and how to feed my small children. Through my research I found some really unsettling statistics. According to the CDC, nearly 1 in 2 children have at least one chronic health condition. There is a rapid rise in childhood obesity, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, ADHD, depression and anxiety to name a few. What’s most frustrating about these findings is that many of these conditions and diseases are preventable.

As a mom, I want nothing more than for my kids to grow up knowing what it feels like to feel good. I want their bodies to operate the way they’re designed to. I want them to know where their food comes from. More than anything though, I want them to find joy at the dinner table. And I want that for you and your kids as well.

I created this website not only to highlight nourishing foods, but with busy parents and picky eaters in mind. I hope that you’re able to find a few simple recipes that will delight your little eaters and bring you all to the dinner table excited to share a homemade meal together.

Parents, you’re doing awesome! This is a wild time to be raising a family. Thank you for joining me on my mission to take back our children’s taste buds and rediscover the simple pleasures of enjoying real food, grown by real people, on real dirt. We can make a difference.
