High Protein Yogurt & Berry Bowls

I’m trying to create more high protein breakfast recipes on here that don’t include eggs because I know a lot of folks who are burnt out on eggs but are still looking for a high protein breakfast for their growing kids.

These Greek yogurt, berry and paleo granola bowls with a side of breakfast sausage are a wonderful high protein breakfast that can give you a nice break from eggs while not sacrificing nourishment, healthy fats or protein.

This isn’t a strict recipe but more of guideline to use what you have. My kids love this breakfast and I do too! I’m working on a grain free granola recipe so stay tuned for that. In the meantime there are plenty of grain free granolas on the market. Just look for ones that are naturally sweetened with honey or maple syrup.

Enjoy!

High Protein Yogurt & Berry Bowls

PREP TIME: 5 minutes    COOK TIME: 5 MINUTES    SERVES: 2

  • 1 heaping cup of frozen berries (we love wild blueberries)

  • 1 cup of full fat plain Greek yogurt

  • handful of grain free granola

  • Apple sauce for sweetening (optional)

  • Side of breakfast sausage (look for breakfast sausage without any additives)

Preparation

  1. Heat the berries in a dry skillet until they become soft and some of their juices begin to flow.

  2. Divide the yogurt between the bowls. Top with the berries, extra juice from the berries, granola and a tablespoon or two of apple sauce if desired for added sweetness.

  3. Serve with sausage for a complete, wholesome and nourishing breakfast.
